Gary BaddinBankruptcy Analyst / Field Agent |
Gary Baddin joined my law firm in June of 2021. Gary started his career in 1982 as a Revenue Officer with the Collection Division of the Internal Revenue Service in Los Angeles where he was assigned resolution of taxpayer delinquent accounts and collection of unfiled returns. In 1986, he was promoted to senior level status, handling thousands of the most complex and difficult cases and became an On-the-Job Instructor and mentor for junior personnel. Soon thereafter, Gary was appointed to the IRS Regional instructor panel and served as lead instructor for several classes of Revenue Officer training and mentorship. In 1987, he joined the elite Special Procedures Staff of IRS, administering the Service’s tax claims in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, while providing advice and guidance to Collection Division management on cases of exceptional complexity.
In 1991, Gary joined the Staff of the Office of the United States Trustee in the U.S. Department of Justice as a Bankruptcy Analyst and was assigned oversight of chapter 11 cases. During his nearly 30 years with the U.S. Trustee, Gary presided over thousands of Section 341(a) meetings (meetings of creditors), participated in formulation of creditor committees, reviewed debtor’s 7 day packages and other compliance documents, and reviewed many thousands of Monthly Operating Reports. Gary was the Bankruptcy Analyst for the Office of the United States Trustee for thousands of the most complex and challenging chapter 11 cases. Throughout his career, he was the recipient of many service and performance awards. He is most proud of receiving the U.S. Trustee Program Director’s Award in Diversity in 2001 for establishing an accounting internship for undergraduates in the Los Angeles office. Gary received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from U.C. Davis in 1981. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from U.S.C. Gary is a lifelong Californian and enjoys playing guitar. He is fluent in French. I have been wanting to add Gary to our Chapter 11 team for many years. I am thrilled to have him as a part of our team!
